How the conversion works
Every land unit can be expressed in square feet, so we convert the input to square feet and then into each target unit. The core relationships are:
sq ft → other unit = (value in sq ft) ÷ (sq ft per unit)

Accuracy note — which units are fixed, which vary
Standardised (exact): square foot, square yard, square metre, cent (435.6 sq ft), Guntha (1,089 sq ft), Ground (2,400 sq ft), acre (43,560 sq ft) and hectare (10,000 m²).
Not standardised (varies by state/district): Bigha ranges from about 6,800 sq ft (Himachal) to 27,000 sq ft (pucca Bigha in UP/Rajasthan); Biswa and Katha likewise differ regionally and often come in pucca and kaccha forms. This tool uses a common value for those (marked *), so for the variable units treat the result as an estimate and confirm against your local revenue record. For any deal, the legally valid area is the one on the 7-12 / RTC / jamabandi extract and the registered sale deed. Use the dedicated state-wise Bigha converter when Bigha is involved.
